I only need about 4-6 imputs: 2 for my Korg X5D (that I use as a MIDI controler), 2 for recording Mic, and another 2 just in case. I mostly compose Pop, Latino, R&B, House music and for this I work with VST instruments. Ok, here is what I do: I only record voice, or a guitar, or a sax etc, (like the lead instrument). Will my VST Instruments sound better with the RME, than with M-audio Firewire Audiophile.

Would Cubase SX 3 sound better with a RME sound card, or everything is done inside the software and it doesn't matter what sound card you have. Good RMS signal, clear sound and all this with low latency etc. I want to be able to obtain a very good quality, not to make demos of my songs, but to be able to make my music sound like I was working in a big studio. I want to have a better sound for my music. No issues at all when they are setup properly That's what I use on my main digital rig. You'd want to clock it to your converter though.

32 channels of adat plus 2 channels of spdif. The m-audio profire lightbridge might be somethng to consider. I think even a lucid might suit your needs better than the rme.Īs for a soundcard, there are tons that are great. Some may not feel that way, but if you have top notch monitors, you should have the top notch conversion to match. You have kick ass monitors, but if you don't have the precise top notch da than i think you are wasting alot of your genelecs capabilities. The rme stuff is nice, but i don't think it holds a candle to the apogee 16x, lavry, mytek, benchmark, ua, etc. You bought genelecs, you should save and get the best stereo converter that you can. This is just my opinion, but I think you would benefit from a better converter.
